Everyone should be able to shop here

What we have built in, what we have checked, and how to tell us when something is still wrong.

Coco and Sabanna is a one-person studio, and this shop is built to aim at the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1, Level AA. We test as we build rather than claiming a certification we haven't earned.

  1. Text you can read

Every piece of text on the shop is checked against WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large headings), measured against the color actually painted behind it. Body copy is set at 15px with a 1.6 line height, and scales with your browser’s text-size setting.

  2. Keyboard navigation

Everything you can do with a mouse can be done with a keyboard. A “Skip to content” link is the first stop on every page, focus outlines are visible on links, buttons and the shop filters, and the cart panel keeps focus inside it while open, hands focus back when it closes, and closes on Escape.

  3. Screen readers

Pages use real headings, lists, and landmarks rather than styled text. Buttons and links say what they do, and the cart announces what changed when you add, remove or re-count an item. Products still waiting on photography show their printed label (scent, notes, size and wax) instead of a photograph, so the tile still tells you what the product is rather than pretending to show it.

  4. Motion

The scrolling text strip on the homepage has a pause button, and all animation stops automatically if your device is set to reduce motion. Nothing on the site flashes.

  5. Ordering

The ordering flow works by keyboard and screen reader. If any part of it gets in your way, email your order and we will take it from there by hand. That is a normal way to buy from us, not a fallback.

Something in your way?

Tell us and we will fix it. Email cocoandsabanna@gmail.com or call 712-441-1712. Please say which page you were on and what happened. We read every message and usually reply within 1–2 business days.
