Every candle is an act of care
We pour every candle by hand in Minneapolis using 100% soy wax and phthalate-free fragrances. Each scent is inspired by the seasons, the landscape, and the moments that feel like home.
How It's Made
From wax to wick — five steps
Wax Melting
We start with USDA-certified soy wax flakes, melted slowly at precisely 185°F to maintain the wax's natural structure and ensure a clean, even burn.
Scent Blending
Each fragrance is blended at a specific temperature window — usually around 160°F — to bind properly with the wax. We measure every drop by weight, not volume.
Pouring
We pour slowly and steadily into warmed vessels to prevent sinkholes and cracking. Every candle is poured by hand — no automated fills here.
Curing
After pouring, candles cure for a minimum of 48 hours at room temperature. Curing allows the fragrance to bind fully with the wax, producing a stronger, longer-lasting scent throw.
Labeling
Once cured, we inspect each candle for surface quality, trim the wick to exactly ¼ inch, and apply the label by hand before packaging.
The Founder
Started with a kitchen table
Ember & Wick started the way most small businesses do — with a problem to solve. After years of burning synthetic candles that gave headaches more than warmth, our founder started experimenting with soy wax and clean fragrance oils in a Minneapolis apartment kitchen.
What began as gifts for friends turned into a weekend market stall, and eventually a proper studio. The goal has never changed: make candles that smell like a real place or a real feeling, using ingredients you can actually pronounce.
Every candle is still poured by the same hands, in the same city, with the same attention that started on that kitchen table.
